Summary
We are looking for a chief engineer to hold full engine room responsibility for our Mediterranean cruise ship, sailing seven-night itineraries out of Barcelona to Civitavecchia, Marseille and Palma de Mallorca. Diesel-electric propulsion, four main generator sets, scrubber systems and shore power connection at Barcelona all fall under the engine department's responsibility.
A current ILO/MLC Medical Certificate and a chief engineer's certificate of competency (TR or equivalent STCW CoC) are required; Advanced Fire Fighting is an advantage. We are looking for someone with at least twelve years of engine room experience, several of them at chief level, ideally on a diesel-electric passenger vessel, comfortable leading an engineering team of over 30 across multiple watch shifts.
Responsibilities
- Full engine room and propulsion system responsibility
- Diesel-electric plant and generator management
- Environmental compliance (scrubbers, ballast water, emissions)
- Shore power connection procedures at each home port
- Leadership of a 30-plus engineering department
- Shipyard and dry-dock period planning
